At 1st Parents, our mission is Supporting and equipping parents for the journey.
We believe that parents are the primary influencers in the lives of their children and youth and, if the church wants to have a deeper impact, more must be done to influence parents. Faith is passed on through the family so we want to “partner with parents” in their context. We are here for YOU, the parents! We will offer formational opportunities, fellowship for parents and their kids, as well as studies and events designed to best support and equip parents through this journey of discipleship.
Register online with Edenton Street if you plan to attend their Mother-Daughter event this November.
No need to RSVP, just show up in comfy clothes for a 45 minute pause from parenthood to meditate, pray, center and simply breathe. Hope to see you there!
Small Group Study
On October 11th we will begin a Parenting Study at 630p on Wednesday nights through November 15th, 2017, Parenting Beyond Your Capacity.
In Parenting Beyond Your Capacity, Reggie Joiner and Carey Nieuwhof help parents discover a “bigger story” in which to involve their family, one in which multiple influential voices combine in order to tell kids the same thing: that a relationship with God really matters.
Parenting Beyond Your Capacity can help parents establish a lifestyle in which they:
- Invite others to invest in their children to help shape and determine the direction of their lives.
- Create a culture of unconditional love to fuel the emotional and moral health of their children.
- Tap into the power of quality moments together, building a sense of purpose through everyday experiences.
At our Parent Ministry Kick off on September 30, 2017, Chris Sasser, an Associate of Ministry Architects and the Pastor of Family Ministries of Port City Church in Wilmington, NC, discussed with us, as parents, how we can help our kids navigate a life in which our children and teenagers have packed “bags”, not all of which are Christ-like or healthy. Below is the presentation created by Chris. We will continue to explore this topic in the coming year, so these slides are a work in process. We look forward to Chris returning to share and inspire conversation that continues to help equip and support us all on this parenting journey. Stay tuned for future dates!
Is the news frightening your kids? That’s natural. Are Halloween images scaring your children? Some costumes scare adults! Here’s a good article on addressing fear with our families:
