The Church Council met on June 19 to discern a response to the Joel Team Report. Each Church Council member was asked to reflect and share their thoughts on the overall Joel Team Report. Then each Church Council member was asked to reflect and share their thoughts on the Vision and Mission Statements. After everyone shared their thoughts and had the opportunity to ask clarifying questions, the Church Council overwhelmingly adopted the Joel Team Report with a change to the Mission Statement. Below are the new Vision and Mission statements of First United Methodist Church – Cary.
Sharing the heart of Christ from the heart of Cary
To make disciples of Jesus Christ who grow in faith and love through worship, fellowship, service and witness to one another and the world.
The Church Council thanked the Joel Team for their tremendous work over the past year.
The 2014-2015 Church Council will be installed at worship services on Sunday, June 29. The council’s July 10 meeting (7:00 p.m., room 200) will be a strategic meeting where we will be focusing our conversation on Congregational Care. The church council will read Karen Lampe’s book, The Caring Congregation, in preparation of the strategic meeting.
