It’s Easter, it’s Easter! Jesus Christ is risen today! (ok, not today as I publish this news, but Sunday. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, we still have Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Saturday to experience before the celebrations can begin). But Sunday IS Easter morning! This calls for renewal of our baptism vows, rededication of our lives to be worthy of this sacrifice, dancing in the streets, and, and….and an egg hunt?
Yes, this Easter morning we are trying something new, perfectly appropriate on Easter, as Christ has now made everything new. We are combining classes by grade (there will be one Kindergarten class, one 1st grade class, etc.) and we are going to read the Easter story from the Bible, encouraging all the questions, conversation and thoughtfulness that inspires. And we are going to head down to the playground for an Easter Egg hunt, ROCK-style. This means some eggs have meaningful messages, or actions we encourage the kids to try, or are empty, like the tomb, and some eggs have stickers and (nut-free) candy. Our Kindergarten through 5th graders will be on the large playground, and the Preschoolers (2-4 year olds) will be on the small, fenced in, playground. The links to the full schedule of events and lessons are below.
Servants, please try to arrive between 915A – 930A. NO LATER THAN 930A, pretty please with sugar on top. While we expect fewer kids than usual (it being the first weekend of Spring Break and many will worship with their family instead of coming to Sunday school) folks will be arriving early to ensure their seat at the worship service of their choice. This means they will be dropping off kids early, too. We can also expect guests on this special day, so be ready with your most welcoming smile, hug and encouragement for any new faces you see.
Can’t wait to see you and celebrate with you Sunday morning – until then, we have the triduum; without these next three days, there is not an Easter story. I hope we see you at any/all of the following worship offerings:
