Dear ROCK families,
Wherever you are on the journey, I am honored to be walking with you and our Children’s Ministry Team as Children’s Council chairperson for the 2016-2017 year. Navigating parenting and our faith journeys with little ones in tow is a high calling, and it is a demanding, joyful, beautiful, chaotic, messy calling often filled with uncertainties and lots of adventure. Our faith journeys are an important part of who we are as parents and how we help our children experience God right where they are.
My husband Darren and I have been a part of the FUMC family since 2000. It is where I have struggled with, been challenged by, and most closely encountered and grown in God in my faith journey. I am excited to partner with you this year in your own journey. I would love to meet you and invite you to participate in the spiritual growth of what I believe to be one of God’s most precious gifts to us–our children. They often are closer to Truth and Love than many of the wiser, older adults we know, and I am committed to creating a space and supportive community that gives children an opportunity to experience God in authentic, life-giving ways.
I will be in the lobby this Sunday with information about the Orange curriculum for our kids on Sunday mornings. We also are beginning Way of the Child September 7th on Wednesday evenings during Small Talk as an antidote for the noisy, busy, chaos the world throws our way every day. There are opportunities to serve our community through local and global outreach that you will hear about. And our children’s music program is one of the best around!
If you can’t make it this Sunday, I plan to set aside the 4th Sunday each month as an open ended forum to talk about what we’d like to see happening more at the ROCK and how I can connect you with the resources to help you on your parenting/faith journeys. There is an open invitation to join our Children’s Council with regular input and service opportunities. Please prayerfully consider participating as an adult leader for Sunday School on Sunday mornings. We are the vessels God uses to pass on our faith legacy to the next generation.
I look forward to meeting you as we meet a new school year full of challenges, spiritual growth, and lots of love and laughter with our kids.
Much joy and peace,
