Boo!! Did I scare you? Fear not, all this month our elementary aged kiddos have been talking about courage at the ROCK. One of our bottom lines from this month is: “You can do what you should, even when things seem impossible”. Now, that takes courage. Did you know 1 in every 4 children is at risk of going hungry in NC? Don’t let the size of that statistic terrify you or paralyze you. But do let it spur you onto action. It might seem impossible to feed every child in NC, or even Wake County, but we CAN make a difference at our local schools. This Sunday, as part of our 5th Sunday serve initiative, we will pack backpacks for children at Adams Elementary school – that’s right down the road, across from the Cary Towne Center. BackPack Buddies provides children from food-insecure homes with healthy weekend meals during the school year. The children, selected by school principals, guidance counselors, and supervisors of various after school programs, receive a backpack containing six balanced meals and two healthy snacks at the end of every week.
What can you do? Our church provides BackPacks to feed about 40 kids at Adams each week. You can bring in a love offering to help buy more food, or bring in individual milk, canned green veggies, canned fruit, canned corn, 100% juice boxes, healthy snacks, single serve mac and cheese, canned ravioli or ramen noodles to the ROCK this Sunday. We collected food the last two months, but it was not enough to pack the number of bags we want to with the children on Sunday, so we had to dip into the BackPack Buddies food closet – and we need to replenish this closet so there will be food for them to pack in future weeks. Do what you should, even if it seems impossible.
The schedule for the morning is posted below, can’t wait to see you!
For our Preschool friends:
This month is all about one man, one GREAT adventure. This month we’re talking about Moses! What a guy. What a life. What an adventure! God spoke to Moses through a burning bush. (You don’t see that every day.) And, Moses watched God part a sea. (You don’t see that every day either!)
Think about all that Moses would have missed if he had said “no” to God’s plan?
No pillar of cloud in the day.
No fire at night to guide him.
No water from a rock when he was thirsty.
No leading God’s people.
He would have missed out on the greatest adventure he could have ever imagined. One thing is for sure, we don’t want you or your preschoolers to miss out on one moment of the great adventure God has planned for you and them. That’s why we have filled an entire month with activities and stories and music that will help us all remember that God’s way is perfect. That’s right
God’s way is perfect! God’s way is right! God’s way is awesome! And, God will show us the way.
Here’s this week’s lessons: (3rd graders are in week 6 of Learning My Bible)
See you Sunday!
