Our next volunteer opportunity is this Saturday, December 17, at 8:15am. We could use one more volunteer. You can sign up here: http://carycoalition.habitatwake.volunteerhub.com/events/index. The Wesleyan and Sarah Circles will be providing lunch for us on this day.
Then, the next First UMC Cary volunteer day is December 31. Yes, New Year’s Eve! No worries though, we will finish in plenty of time for you to catch a nap before your party! Work time is 8:15am-4:00pm. As of this writing, we could use about 16 more volunteers. Click on the link above to register. There are five more Saturdays in 2017 starting on January 7 and going through February 4. Please sign up for any days that fit your schedule. Blessings to you all!
One Small Thing Can Make a Big Impact
During the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, it may seem impossible to think about doing something to impact your health and well-being. Between December 13 and December 24, Elf for Health will offer one idea per day that can make a huge difference in your overall health. Click here to sign up. Get a jump start on 2017!
Stand by Me NC Holiday Collections
Stand by Me NC, a mental health advocacy group, will be collecting donations for the more than 200 patients who will be spending the holidays hospitalized at either Holly Hill or WakeBrook behavioral health facilities. Patients in these facilities are seldom the recipients of community giving campaigns this time of year – we’d like to change that. Will you help us begin to heal the stigma and shame that many people living with mental illness feel and offer a tangible sign of support and encouragement? Please consider making a donation of the following items:
- New sweat shirts, t-shirts and sweat pants for men and women (larger sizes are especially needed)
- New hats and gloves
- Adult coloring books and puzzle books
- Colored pencils
- Playing cards
- Adult puzzles and small games
All items must received by December 17. Please contact Dawn Woody for more information or to arrange a drop-off at 919-796-5217. Best wishes for a healthy and happy holiday season.
Join us for the Christmas Cantata this Sunday, December 18. The Chancel Choir and Worship Orchestra will present “Shout the Good News” in all three sanctuary worship services (8:25, 9:45 and 11:05).

Stephen Ministry Training
Stephen Ministry has been a part of First UMC Cary for over 20 years. With a congregation of over 4,000 in number, we need a strong Stephen Ministry in order to support the needs of people who could use the presence of someone who cares. If you’re at a time in your life when you’re asking God, ‘What more can I do to serve you?’ and you are a caring person, please consider becoming a Stephen Minister. If you are interested in finding out more about our Stephen Ministry program, please email Bob Hight at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 919-656-3622, or email Chuckie Chinault at email@example.com or call 919-306-0460. Stephen Ministry training will commence in January, 2017. Please be in prayer for our Stephen Ministry program at First UMC Cary and consider becoming a part of this ministry. We will be glad to get you started on the application process.
