Our August 12 speaker will be Joy Currey from CORRAL Riding Academy. She is the president and founder of a ministry based on Christian faith and a desire to better the lives of young girls faced with adversity. Join us August 12 at 8:00am for the “Best Breakfast in Town for $5” and hear Joy describe the work they do and their successes. This will be a great program for your children to attend. School Supplies Collection for Bridge the Gap Mission
Bridge the Gap Mission is collecting school supplies and packing book bags to be distributed to needy children in Southeast Raleigh now to August 20. We need book bags, crayons, pencils, notebook paper, colored pencils, safety scissors, and markers. Drop off locations include: First United Methodist Church Office, Glass Law Firm at 201 W. Chatham St. Cary. We will post other drop off locations as they become available.
Dorcas Ministries / UNC Mobile Health Clinic Need
A driver is needed for the UNC mobile health clinic at Dorcas Ministries on Tuesdays. Pick up the van in Carrboro and bring to Dorcas Ministries in Cary or Western Wake crisis ministry in Apex by 9:30am. Then return the van to Carrboro at 2:00pm. GriefShare is a 13-week program designed to encourage healing by walking with others who are also grieving. They share how they were able to find a “new normal” in their lives, filled with joy and hope for the future. If you have lost a loved one and are struggling with your grief, we encourage you attend GriefShare. There is a fee of $15 for the GriefShare workbook. If you are repeating the series and already have your workbook, there is no fee. We will meet Thursdays, beginning September 7, 2017 and end on December 14, 2017 at 7:00pm in room 125. Travel with JOY to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral With Lunch at Kid Cashew
When: August 8. Transportation will depart from the lower First UMC Cary lot at 8:00am and return around 5:30pm.
Cost: You will need to bring money for lunch at Kid Cashew, (Mediterranean menu). It is also requested that a $5 donation be made to the Cathedral’s renovation program. Click here to register by August 6.
Tee Up Fore Charities Golf Classic: This year’s 23 Annual Golf Classic will be held on Monday, September 11 at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, NC.
