Just thinking about advance directives can be scary, but it’s a gift to yourself and your family to have those plans in place. She is the president and founder of a ministry based on Christian faith and a desire to better the lives of young girls faced with adversity. UMW Chicken Pie Sale
The UMW Chicken Pie Sale is almost here. These pies are all chicken and are made from a secret recipe given to us by a church in Winston-Salem and are like the Moravian Pies made in Old Salem. Our pastry is made in our kitchen as are the pies. The UMW will be taking orders between now and when we sell out. The UMW members will be given first opportunity to order through their circles, the order form will appear in the Sunday School classes beginning on August 13 and on August 18 you may order you pies on EasyReg. All pies are $10.00 and should be paid for when they are picked up on September 9, between 10:30am and 1:00pm at the church kitchen. We will be making a limited number so get your orders in early.
NC State Fair Ham Cooking and Biscuit-making Workshop
Saturday, September 30 at 9:00am
The State Fair Booth Committee is offering a State Fair Ham Biscuit Workshop Saturday, September 30. The workshop will take place in the church kitchen at 9:00am. Please bring an apron. All other supplies will be furnished. Biscuit making and ham cooking will be taught by Fair Booth veterans. You can come to sharpen your skills or learn something new. Biscuit makers will be expected to apprentice alongside veterans for two shifts at the Fair and ham cooks should plan to work two shifts as well. Click here to sign up. School Supplies Collection for Bridge the Gap Mission
Bridge the Gap Mission is collecting school supplies and packing book bags to be distributed to needy children in Southeast Raleigh now to August 20. We need book bags, crayons, pencils, notebook paper, colored pencils, safety scissors, and markers. Drop off locations include: First United Methodist Church Office, Glass Law Firm at 201 W. Chatham St. Cary. We will post other drop off locations as they become available.

GriefShare is a 13-week program designed to encourage healing by walking with others who are also grieving. They share how they were able to find a “new normal” in their lives, filled with joy and hope for the future. If you have lost a loved one and are struggling with your grief, we encourage you attend GriefShare. There is a fee of $15 for the GriefShare workbook. If you are repeating the series and already have your workbook, there is no fee. We will meet Thursdays, beginning September 7, 2017 and end on December 14, 2017 at 7:00pm in room 125.
