Hurricane Harvey: How We Can Help
As we watch news coverage of the devastating flooding that Hurricane Harvey continues to produce, we want to help. Currently the best way to donate financially is through UMCOR’s US Disaster Response Advance #901670. You may give online to this fund or you may donate offline with a check. To donate offline, please place a check in your local United Methodist Church offering plate and designate UMCOR US Disaster Response Advance #901670 on the memo line OR mail a check to Conference Treasurer-Raleigh Area, P.O. Box 890202, Charlotte, NC 28289-0202 with the advance name and number on the memo line. Please continue to pray for those impacted so adversely by this storm and for the many workers and volunteers who are offering rescue and care to those in need.

ZOE Hope Grows Invitation
Maybe you missed it… All FUMCC members are invited to develop an Income Generating Project (IGP) to raise money for ZOE*. Proceeds from your project will help fund Income Generating Projects that ZOE’s orphans and vulnerable children do. Just like the orphans, you get $150 seed money to start your 90 day project. At the end of your project, or by December 15, turn in your seed money and any profits you’ve made. Maybe you’re stuck, thinking “what can I do?” Here is a sampling of what other FUMCC members have done.
- Children – Lemonade stands, bake sales, jewelry, game stands, photo booths, and much more
- Youth – Yard work, pet sitting, personal sports coach, music lessons, etc.
- Families or groups– Neighborhood BBQ (with donations from attendees), car wash/car detailing, yard sales, progressive dinners (a few people cook and attendees make a donation), family fun night.
- Adults – Specialty food sales, bicycle cleaning, child care, de-clutter and sell items on Craigs list or ebay, gourmet dinners, unique handcrafted items (woodworking, knitting, painting, to name a few), or let your creative mind loose to come up with your special IGP.
