Making sense of God’s will. We loosely speak of “God’s will” but what does that really mean? A careless interpretation can lead to a confusing understanding of God, of how God is at work in this world, and of how God’s will relates to our lives together. We might even ask, “Is this really what God had in mind?”
Our three week series will touch on the “Why?” questions of life but our primary goal is to provide a solid framework for strengthening our faith and being more in sync with God’s will. Yes, some uncertainty will remain, especially as we encounter human tragedy and suffering. Yet even in this, we can have reassurance because of who God is in Christ and because of who we are in Christ!
Week One begins “at the beginning,” boldly proclaiming the eternal nature of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working together in creation, all with a view towards God’s ultimate goals. Week Two will delve into what some have called God’s circumstantial will, including how God is always at work for good even amidst our brokenness. Week Three will revisit the beginning and will also get us where we are going, encouraging us to behold the ultimate will of God as “Love Wins!”
We hope to have everyone back from summer travel and present this Sunday. Let’s remember – our presence matters to God, to one another and is a powerful witness to others. Begin thinking: “Is this what God had in mind?”
