The Children’s Ministry at First Cary seeks to provide a place where all children can imagine, learn, and grow in the presence of God. Through their experience within Children’s Ministry, young disciples will have the opportunity to grow in their understanding of God’s love for them and how to share it with others. Alongside curious young disciples, our passionate adult volunteers and committed parents give of their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to provide a compassionate community for all to flourish.
Sunday Mornings
Sunday School: 9:45-10:45 a.m. with check in at Building B
Each week, children ages 2 years old to fifth grade are invited to join in the fun and formation that Sunday School offers! Young disciples share an age-level experience and lessons rooted in scripture that engages music as well as interactive, relevant activities. We utilize Orange curriculum.

Nursery: Opportunities between 9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with Check in at Building B
From 9:45-10:45 a.m., the nursery is available for young disciples ages newborn up to 2 years old. During the 11:00 a.m. services, we also provide nursery care for young disciples ages newborn to 5 years old.

Praygrounds: During All Worship Services in Buildings A and C
Praygrounds offer an alternative, yet sacred space for young disciples to engage in worship with hands-on activities while parents engage in worship through the livestreams of either First Sanctuary or First on Chatham. Parents are required to stay with their young disciples while using this space.
First Sanctuary Children’s Messages and Acolyting
In First Sanctuary, we support young disciples in worship by engaging them in Children’s Messages relevant to the scripture and sermon, as well as encouraging them to lead through Acolyting. If your young disciple 3rd grade or older is interested in becoming an acolyte, Reach out to Emleigh Appel.
Special Events
Throughout the year, we offer special events that teach young disciples about God, cultivate a compassionate community, and provide opportunities to serve our community. These include events like Move Up Sunday (Fall), Trunk or Treat (Fall), Advent Wreath Making (Winter), and Vacation Bible School (Summer).
Age Specific Offerings
Rockstars (Fourth & Fifth Grade): A stepping stone for students in fourth and fifth grade to experience what being in UMYF (youth group) will look like one Sunday night per month. During this time together, they share a meal, games, a large group lesson, and small group conversations.
Family Resources
We believe that supporting parents is the best way to support young disciples spiritually. Each week, we provide devotionals and activities for parents that you can incorporate throughout your everyday experience. Major Milestones
We recognize that there are major milestones within your child’s life, and we are grateful for the opportunity to journey alongside you through them. Major milestones that we celebrate intentionally as a faith community are new births, Baptisms, Third graders receiving Bibles, Fourth and Fifth graders beginning to engage in Youth programming, and Fifth graders becoming official “Youth.” We look forward to celebrating your young disciple’s major milestones with your family!
