Education – Read and Feed, ESL Classes
Read and Feed at First Cary is a K-5 reading tutoring program that meets on Thursdays (September – May) at 5:30 p.m. If you know of a student who would like to join or if you’re interested in becoming a tutor, please contact Maureen Sawchak.
ESL at First Cary – Ms. Audra Alvarez is a Wake Tech teacher who holds Adult Beginner and Intermediate English classes at First Cary on Thursdays (August/September – May) from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in becoming a student or an English tutor, please contact Audra.
Food Security – Food Distribution Program, Food Pantry, Community Garden
Community Food Distribution – Held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Sign up to serve here or pack bags here. You’re also invited to join our newsletter to stay up to date on pantry news, ways to help, and current needs.
First Cary Food Pantry – First Cary helps our community access food and resources by distributing boxes of produce and pantry goods twice a month. Join our Food Pantry newsletter to stay up to date on pantry news, ways to help, and current needs.
First Cary Community Garden – The Gracious Harvest Community Garden is a “giving garden” located in the heart of downtown Cary.
Global Ministries – ZOE Empowers, Bosnia Mission Team
ZOE Empowers – First Cary UMC has been involved with ZOE since 2006. All are welcome to join our active mission team that is committed to spreading the good news about ZOE Empowers and raising funds to support this important ministry. Learn more here, and contact Cheryl Irwin with any questions.

Cary Coalition: Habitat for Humanity
First Cary Disaster Response Team – To join a work team in Eastern NC repairing homes from storm damage, contact Rick.
Prison Ministries – Cross and Key, Pardoned by Christ
Cross and Key Prison Ministries – Equipping churches for prison ministry, education on criminal justice issues and advocacy for reform.
Pardoned by Christ – In-prison Bible Studies, Transitional Housing for returning citizens, Support for Families with family members in prison.
Seasonal Ministries – Cary Christmas Store, Baskets of Hope
Cary Christmas Store allows parents facing financial insecurity to shop for toys and clothing for their families at affordable prices.
Baskets of Hope distributes Easter baskets through Read and Feed, ESL, and First Cary’s Community Food Distribution.
