Just as Joseph is considering calling off his engagement to Mary because she is pregnant, the angel Gabriel visits Joseph in a dream and tells him everything. Gabriel encourages Joseph to take Mary as his wife, to name the baby within her Jesus, and to raise him as his own son. For all of this will fulfill the promise of prophecy that God will be with us always. Joseph did all that he was requested to do. Even when we don’t fully understand God’s plan before us, may we hold onto the promise of prophecy while leaning in with hope for all that is to come.
