The Flood

Within and throughout the creation story, God calls God’s people towards true goodness and yet, in our fallenness we do not always faithfully respond. In hopes of beginning again, God floods the earth and everything in it. Except for Noah, his family, and all of the animals in pairs of two.

Months later, as the flood recedes, Noah uses a dove as a way of determining the readiness of the earth from disembarking from the ark. The dove reappears with a sprig of hope. The promise that the full force of God comes into bear in the form of gracious presence in the wake of darkness. Just as it was in the beginning.
